Analysis of Extended Definition Essay Samples

Analysis of Extended Definition Essay SamplesThis study is an attempt to identify the characteristics of writing of an essay on extended definition. For each essay sample presented here, we have tried to answer a basic question, namely, how does one choose the essay? The main problem with all essay samples is that they were not written by someone who has already experienced and mastered extended diction. In other words, the authors of these samples did not write extended diction for their students, nor did they write it for themselves, but rather, for others who are already writing good extended dictionary sentences. So, if the purpose of a teacher is to present her students with the basic foundation of grammar, then a professor must instruct his students to first learn extended diction. Most of the essay samples contain an overabundance of adjectives and adverbs, which can only weaken the word power and the writer's confidence in the development of the extended dictionary. If the sent ence contains an excess of adjectives, the student will have difficulty in completing the sentence, because he/she is overstressed.Language that lacks definition is very limited in terms of its application. We tend to use the same language, at least to some extent, all of the time. This is why most dictionaries require one to define words before they can be used. Once a word has been defined, the word is much more usable and effective in speech.I remember a student in one of my courses who complained about the length of the vocabulary words in the language lesson. She repeated, 'I do not think that I will have enough vocabulary words to express my idea.' Of course, she didn't realize that she was using the same word all the time, even though she did not know the meaning of the word. The teacher explained that when she taught English, she always wanted to include dictionary definitions, so that the students would have a greater understanding of how to use the language. In other words, in order to help the students develop the vocabulary, she had to begin with the dictionary. This is true in all languages, because one must first understand the language before one can write.I want to suggest that we write for a different kind of audience, which consists of college students. Because this is the audience we are interested in, I won't mention how to write a second person for this group of students, as the students are already conversant with third person. In writing essay samples, I hope you will give them a chance. Then you may revise and improve, which will help you write better for many other readers. So, begin now!
